Things you never knew about bad breath

Forget the charm of your Halo Effect if you are haunted by Halitosis aka Bad Breath. Every now and then you must have come across somebody who spews out a filthy odour while talking.

DID I EAT SOMETHING PUNGENT OR IS IT JUST ME?

Bad breath can simply occur because you might have eaten onions and garlic, or some other pungent ingredient in your meal. If so, carry a handy mouthwash in case you can’t resist eating it but know that it doesn’t solve your oral health problem permanently. The other reason is because of bacteria which is called Halitosis. Its severity depends on several factors & you’d best visit a doctor if you have the latter.

BAD BREATH, BAD BREATH, WATCHA GONNA DO WHEN IT COMES FOR YOU?

Whether your 6 or 60 years, bad breath smells can develop at any point in your life. While it’s very common, you should get bad breath treatment or pick up the pace with your oral hygiene before it becomes awkward and somebody calls you out for it.

HALITOSIS – YOU MAY NOT EVEN KNOW YOU HAVE IT…

Halitosis can be a serious condition that is caused by bacteria. The messed up thing about Halitosis is that you may not even know you have it. You need a “great friend” to tell you to go brush your teeth. At least that way, someone brings it to your notice. It is generally treated with a combination of oral hygiene, prescribed rinses & regular cleaning of teeth. You practically need to meet your dentist once every 2 weeks, so start scheduling your appointments before he goes on vacation.

WHAT REEKS? BLAME THE SULFUR

Yes, your breath can smell like rotten eggs. The same Sulfur compounds present in rotten eggs are also present in your mouth. Caused by anaerobic bacteria in the mouth, you sometimes really wonder how such tiny organisms can mess up your chances with your to-be lover or at your next job interview.

THERE IS NO LAZY WAY OUT. YOU NEED TO GET PHYSICAL…

Anaerobic Bacteria survive even without oxygen, which means they are hiding in the deepest, darkest crevices of your cavities & gums. Finally, you can build on your muscles using your brush and floss to make sure you clean all of it out from your teeth and gums. Tongue cleaners are also a great bad breath remedy that help remove germs which cause an odor in your mouth, when used gently. And remember, if you gag, you’re doing it right! In case you’re using retainers, braces, or any other wires, make sure they are kept clean.

COTTON MOUTH CAN CATCH YOUR FRIEND’S ATTENTION TOO

Dry mouth can also be a reason for bad breath. The spit from the salivary glands controls the sulfur compound levels in your mouth. So make sure you drink water regularly to avoid another social mishap.

ARE YOUR MORNINGS SMELLY TOO?

This is very normal because your body reduces its saliva production while sleeping. This could be contributing to bad breath problems that you already have. It can be worse for some, but this is a natural phenomenon caused by sleep and you don’t need to worry much. It’s not like you don’t brush in the mornings… If you think it’s fine to avoid it every now and then, think again.

IF YOU’RE A JUNKIE, START BALANCING YOUR MEALS

Sometimes, what you eat can also be the cause of bad breath. Your digestive system can cause certain chemical reactions that could lead to the formulation of Sulfur compounds. The best way to solve this issue is by having balanced meals on time, which should consist of fruits, veggies & protein along with good dental care. You can also look at Setu’s Your Gut tablets that consist of probiotic bacteria that help build your digestive immunity.

WHAT’S YOUR VICE? DRINKING, SMOKING OR BOTH?

Are you a party animal? Do you love the idea of socializing every weekend over some beer & a few cigarettes? In that case, bad breath is very common. Both these substances cause dry mouth and cigarettes stink in general. So the only way out is by cutting down on your nasty habits settling for some home remedies for bad breath. After all, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.

POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME? HELL NO…

Are you gaga over sweets & chocolates? Did you know that while you feed on these wonderful sugar-coated treats, the bacteria in your mouth feed on it too? This increases your chances of having bad breath. So think twice before you eat your next one.

Whatever the reason may be for you, just remember that there’s always a way out. So don’t give up on bad breath because it’ll eventually give up on you.
